Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, don warn di Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, make e no dey name streets for Abuja anyhow, especially for roads wey e no build.
Wike give di warning during di flag-off of new engineering infrastructure projects for Guzape A09 (Lots I & II) and AIT Neighborhood for Asokoro A04 District on Wednesday.
Di minister talk say e no go gree make AMAC chairman dey name roads and streets wey im own administration construct. According to Wike, streets for Abuja suppose bear di names of Nigerians and people wey don truly contribute to di development of di country.
In im words, Wike talk say:
“We cannot be doing roads, putting infrastructure, and then you just wake up one morning and name streets. Before I even open eye, you don name street for di road wey I dey suffer find money to build. Put your own street where you build your own road.”
Wike yarn say di act don turn funny because some people dey allegedly pay AMAC officials to name streets after dem, even when dem no get hand for di development of di city.
E add say:
“You no fit wake up because person get ₦2 billion give you, then you name one road after am. That one no go happen. If dem pay you to name street, make you go do road and provide infrastructure first before you name street after anybody.”
Di minister still tell Maikalangu make e refund any money wey e don collect from people wey pay to name streets illegally, as government no go tolerate such sharp practice.
Wike conclude say every new street for Abuja go bear names of citizens wey truly contribute to nation building and development.
