Prominent Itsekiri chief and culture promoter, Chief Ayirimi Emami, don blast some non-Itsekiri monarchs wey dey use “Warri Kingdom” for their titles, say e no correct at all.

Chief Emami talk this one during one small event wey him use mark eight years since he become Ologbotsere (Prime Minister) of Warri Kingdom. He talk say some Ijaw and Urhobo kings for Warri Federal Constituency dey use the “Warri Kingdom” name as if dem be Itsekiri chiefs.

According to am, history don show say Ijaw and Urhobo people don already ask before to separate from Warri Kingdom, so e no make sense make dem now dey claim am.

He talk say his installation as Ologbotsere on October 20, 2017 by the 20th Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, and the coronation of Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, on October 20, 2016, no be coincidence but plan from the ancestors.

The celebration this year no loud because of the death of his uncle, Mr. Samson Orighoye Emami, the late Chairman of the Otiri/Emami family.

Chief Emami remember how his papa, Chief Akonu Emami, become chief in 1979 same time when Oba of Benin, Erediauwa I, take crown.

He talk say, “Nobody fit stop me from talking for Itsekiri. Anything wey belong to Itsekiri must reach Itsekiri. God put Itsekiri, Ijaw, and Urhobo together, but e no mean make one tribe collect wetin belong to another.”

Emami still hail President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, say God go bless dem both. “Even though I no work for Sheriff win, I work for Tinubu victory. Anything Itsekiri need from federal and state government, our ancestors go make am happen.”
