African Democratic Congress (ADC) don record major boost for Abia State as di party receive about 5,000 new members on Saturday, barely one week after former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, officially join di party.

Di mass defection happen on Sunday for Umuaku, Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, where 2023 governorship candidate of Accord Party, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, lead him supporters into ADC.

Speaking during di event, di supporters say dem don leave their former political parties and structures, including South East Mandate for Good Governance, before fully decamp to ADC together with their leader.

Addressing di crowd, Bishop Nwankpa explain say him decision to join ADC come from strong personal conviction. He say di party manifesto align well with him political beliefs, wey dey focus on people-centred governance, social justice and sustainable development.

He describe ADC as credible and progressive political platform wey fit deliver inclusive governance Nigerians dey look for, adding say di party give fresh opportunity to rebuild public trust in politics.

Bishop Nwankpa and him supporters receive warm welcome from Abia State Chairman of ADC, Don Norman Obinna.

According to di chairman, di political direction of Nigeria dey gradually move towards ADC, as more people continue to identify with di party vision and leadership.
