
Vice President Kashim Shettima don return Abuja after e represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 39th Ordinary Session of African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government and the 30th AU General Assembly wey hold for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
According to statement wey Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), release on Sunday, Shettima attend the summit between February 14 and 15, 2026.
The AU summit carry theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.” The meeting focus on how Africa go improve water supply, sanitation systems and push long-term development plan under African Union Agenda 2063.
Apart from meeting with other African leaders, the Vice President also attend high-level side events and hold bilateral talks with political and business leaders, as part of effort to strengthen Nigeria diplomatic, economic and strategic relationships across Africa.

The statement add say Shettima also secure goodwill from António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, wey urge Nigeria to lead Africa push for better global order. Guterres describe Nigeria as country wey get strong position to help Africa become global superpower.
Shettima, on behalf of President Tinubu and Nigeria, also call for Africa to move towards health security sovereignty. E stress say Africa must stop depending too much on foreign aid and instead build strong, self-sufficient health systems from within the continent.
The Vice President return Abuja after the summit, as Nigeria continue to play active role in shaping Africa future development and global relevance.
