
Federal High Court for Ikoyi, Lagos, don award N30 million damages to former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, against the Nigeria Police Force over unlawful declaration of am as “wanted” in October 2025.
Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Musa Kaakaki rule say the action carried out by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, na illegal and clear violation of Sowore fundamental human rights.
Sowore react shortly after court session, describe the ruling as strong blow against what he call persistent police impunity and abuse of power.

Earlier, on November 14, 2025, the court reportedly warn CP Moshood after reports say he still dey publicly boast say Sowore “remains wanted,” despite existing court order restraining such action.
The suit, filed under Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules, require the police to submit defence within five days. The police later file their response before the matter proceed to full hearing.
Friday judgment now mark significant legal victory for Sowore in his long-running confrontations with security agencies.
The activist also commend his lawyer, Barrister Tope Temokun, for diligent and courageous representation throughout the case.
