NANS Calls For EFCC Investigation Over Alleged NELFUND Fund Discrepancy At Ogun Polytechnic
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) don call on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to quickly investigate alleged irregularities surrounding the disbursement of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) money at D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State.

According to NANS, one student allegedly receive NELFUND disbursement of ₦355,000 according to records on the loan portal, but the institution’s invoice and financial records reportedly show only ₦236,000.
The association say the difference between both figures raises serious questions about accountability, transparency and the management of funds wey government create to support Nigerian students.
NANS remind Nigerians say NELFUND was established to reduce the financial burden on students and improve access to higher education across the country.
The association warn say any attempt by individuals or institutions to divert, mismanage or exploit funds meant for students amounts to a betrayal of public trust and an attack on the educational future of Nigerian youths.
As part of its demands, NANS strongly condemned any alleged diversion, misappropriation, inflation or fraudulent handling of NELFUND funds by any institution found guilty.
The student body also called on EFCC to immediately launch a thorough investigation into the alleged discrepancy and determine whether any financial misconduct occurred.
Furthermore, NANS urged the management of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic to publicly explain the difference in the figures, provide a transparent account of all NELFUND-related transactions involving its students and refund affected beneficiaries where necessary.
The association also appealed to the management of NELFUND to strengthen monitoring and accountability mechanisms to prevent future abuse of the student loan scheme.
Akinteye assured Nigerian students that NANS would continue to protect their interests and resist any act capable of undermining the future of students through corruption or financial misconduct.
He stressed that under his leadership, the association would remain committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in all programmes designed for the welfare of Nigerian students.
