Nigeria public universities don enter wahala again as ASUU begin two-week warning strike today, Monday, October 13.
Dr. John Ogi, senior lecturer for Moses Adasu University, Makurdi, don blast Federal Government over dem plan to stop lecturers’ salary because of strike.
According to am, the no-work-no-pay threat wey FG talk “na pure wickedness and insensitivity.” He tell President Tinubu make e stop to dey treat university teachers like Almajiris.
Ogi talk say the problem no be Tinubu vision but “the kind bad advice wey him dey get.” He add say:
“Policies wey dey disgrace intellectuals and reduce dem to beggars go only spoil trust between leaders and workers. Government suppose use justice, no be threat.”
ASUU, wey don tire for long promises, declare total strike to fight for their demands—like the 2009 renegotiated agreement, payment of withheld salaries, revitalisation of universities, and end to harassment of lecturers for LASU, FUTO and Prince Abubakar Audu University.
Reports say FG invite ASUU for meeting last week, but the proposal wey dem present no sweet the union at all. ASUU reject am say e no meet any of their major demands.
For now, academic activities for all public universities don shut down until further notice.
