Justice James Omotosho wey preside over di case talk say Kanu don “waive him right” to defend himself after e refuse to enter defence, dey insist say di charges against am no get legal standing because dem dey based on repealed law.

Di judge talk, “This court don give di defendant enough chance as di Constitution talk for Section 36. I no go allow this matter drag again. E don waive him right.”

Before di decision, Kanu bin tell di court say e wan file new motion to expunge him first not-guilty plea because e believe say di plea no follow due process. E argue say di whole trial dey illegal since di law wey dem use don already expire.

Justice Omotosho still talk say all di motions wey Kanu don file before — including di ones for October and early November — go join together when di court dey ready to deliver final judgment.

Nnamdi Kanu don dey face seven-count terrorism charge wey government file since 2015, based on him push for Biafra independence for di South-East.

Dis case don waka plenty road — from di time soldiers attack Kanu house for Abia State in 2017, to when e disappear comot from Nigeria, and later when dem carry am back from Kenya.

Court of Appeal first cancel di case for 2022, say di way dem take bring am back no follow law. But Supreme Court later talk for 2023 say even if di arrest no follow due process, e no mean say di court no fit judge di matter.

After plenty adjournment and back-and-forth for court, Justice Omotosho don finally set November 20 as di day wey Nigerians go hear di final judgment for dis long-running case.
