
FCT High Court don move against INEC chair and Samuel Anyanwu over disobedience of court order, warning say both men fit face prison if dem no comply with earlier judgment on PDP crisis.
For Form 48 wey court issue on April 20, 2026, the court warn Samuel Anyanwu and Joash Amupitan say dem must obey the January 12, 2026 ruling or risk contempt of court.
The judgment earlier dismiss Anyanwu suit wey challenge him expulsion from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Risk of imprisonment
According to the notice, if the two fail to follow the court order, dem fit face imprisonment.
The court clearly state say continued disobedience go amount to contempt and attract legal punishment.
Case details
For Suit No. CV/1050/2025, Anyanwu na respondent, while some PDP leaders, including Umar Damagum, represent the party’s National Executive Committee as applicants.
INEC chairman, Amupitan, also listed in the matter as part of enforcement process.
PDP crisis still dey escalate
The case dey connected to ongoing crisis inside PDP, wey don split the party into two major factions.
One group led by Tanimu Turaki get backing from governors like Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed.
The other faction, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, dey supported by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other allies.
Background to the dispute
The crisis start after PDP disciplinary committee recommend Anyanwu expulsion in March 2025 over alleged anti-party activities.
Later, during controversial Ibadan convention in November 2025, party leadership expel Anyanwu, Wike and Ayodele Fayose, though court later nullify that convention.
Anyanwu go court to challenge the decision, but Justice Yusuf Halilu dismiss the case in January 2026.
Appeal still ongoing
Despite the ruling, Anyanwu don file appeal for Court of Appeal in April 2026.
He also continue to play active role for Wike-backed PDP convention wey hold for Abuja in March 2026, where Abdulrahman Mohammed emerge as national chairman and Anyanwu retain position as national secretary.
INEC later recognise that leadership, further complicating the crisis.

With this latest court warning, the PDP crisis don take another legal turn, as parties involved still dey wait for final court decisions to determine the true leadership of the party.
