Datti make the announcement on Tuesday during im appearance for Politics Today on Channels Television, where he explain reasons behind im decision.
According to am, internal crisis, departure from party original ideology and alleged government interference for opposition politics na major factors wey push am to leave. However, he also hint say some individuals within the party deliberately frustrate am.
“Wetín Labour Party stand for before no be wetín e be today again,” he talk, adding say he go officially exit the party by midnight.
Furthermore, Datti confirm say PRP na im next political destination, describing the party as one wey get deep history and strong ideological foundation.
In addition, he reveal say part of im mission na to help produce “a genuine southern, possibly Christian candidate” under PRP for the 2027 general elections.
On the other hand, when dem ask am about im own presidential ambition, Datti no give direct answer but he no rule am out completely. Instead, he highlight im past achievements, including serving for House of Representatives and Senate at young age, as well as establishing major institutions.
