Governor Yusuf, wey win Kano governorship election for 2023 under di platform of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), arrive Aso Rock and Chief of Staff to di President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, lead am go di President first-floor office.
Di meeting, wey happen behind closed doors, don spark fresh speculation say di Kano governor fit dey plan to dump NNPP join di ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although details of di discussion no come out, political observers believe say di visit no be ordinary, especially as talks around Yusuf possible defection don dey go on for weeks.
Earlier, national leader of NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, don dismiss reports wey claim say e approve or support any plan by Governor Yusuf to defect. Kwankwaso insist say e no give any consent for such move.
Sources within political circles say negotiations between APC and di Kano governor camp don face challenges, including disagreement over whether Yusuf go get automatic ticket ahead of di 2027 general elections.
Di defection rumours also don reportedly create tension between some of Governor Yusuf supporters and loyalists of im political mentor, Kwankwaso, as uncertainty continue to surround di governor next political move.
