Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) don unveil one new contactless biometric system wey go change the way Nigerians dey collect driver’s licence.
The new system, wey dem launch for Abuja on Monday during the 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Campaign, go make people collect their licence sharp-sharp once dem finish capture — no more waiting or temporary paper.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed talk say FRSC don upgrade their printing facility to fit produce 15,000 licences every day, and dem wan increase am to clear all backlog before November end.
“This new system no need to touch machine again. Na contactless capture — you go just stand, dem go scan you, and you go collect your licence on the spot,” he explain.
He talk say the new method go link directly with NIN database and other agencies like VIO and driving schools to make the process clean, fast, and digital.
Aliyu Datsama, Deputy Corps Marshal wey dey in charge of Motor Vehicle Administration, talk say FRSC don reduce 800,000 unprocessed licences to 400,000 and go clear the remaining soon.
“We dey produce 40,000 licences every day now, and we go soon finish everything,” he talk.
He also beg people wey don do capture make dem go collect their licence because over 206,000 still dey unclaimed for different FRSC offices across Nigeria.
