Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, don issue strong order wey go affect police officers across Nigeria: anybody wey still dey follow VIPs waka as bodyguard must be arrested sharp-sharp.
This order follow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu instruction wey talk say police officers no suppose dey serve as personal escort for politicians, businessmen or anybody wey no be government official wey get official approval.
For statement wey Police Headquarters release, the IGP talk say many officers dey abandon real police work because of private escort duty, and this don reduce manpower for security operations.
Egbetokun warn say any officer wey disobey the directive go face punishment, including possible dismissal from the Force. He add say monitoring teams don spread across states to catch anybody wey still dey break the rule.
The IGP also beg Nigerians make dem report any police officer wey dem see dey follow VIP as bodyguard, so the new reform go work well.
He conclude say the move go help return more officers to real police duty and improve security for the country.
