Sanusi II first become Emir of Kano during the administration of former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, but ex-governor Abdullahi Ganduje later remove am and appoint Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir, after creating four additional first-class emirates.

However, after Governor Yusuf enter office, e dethrone Bayero and reinstate Sanusi II, based on the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law 2024, wey dissolve the five emirate councils created under Ganduje.

Since then, court orders don dey fly left and right — some supporting Sanusi II, others backing Bayero — wey don cause tension and protests across Kano, as both sides dey claim say dem be the legitimate emir.

Reacting to the situation, Waiya assure say the state government don already put concrete steps in place to restore peace and stability in the ancient city.

According to am, the Yusuf administration dey committed to dialogue and peaceful engagement with all stakeholders, and no go allow the emirate matter distract governance or threaten unity.

“Our approach dey guided by respect for rule of law, traditional institutions and the collective interest of Kano people,” Waiya talk.

He urge residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring say government dey work round the clock to resolve all outstanding issues.

On Governor Yusuf defection to the APC, Waiya describe the move as positive development wey go open more doors for Kano State.

“With stronger collaboration with the Federal Government, we expect more support for infrastructure, health, education and social welfare,” he say.

Waiya add say Kano people should expect more dividends of democracy, as closer alignment with Abuja go attract more projects and interventions to the state.

He finally reaffirm say the Yusuf administration dey committed to peace, transparency and inclusive governance, stressing say the interest of Kano people go always come first above personal or political interest.
