The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Yusuf, talk say under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kano don put more than 15% of the state budget for health sector for both 2024 and 2025 — the highest wey the state don ever record.

For statement wey the Ministry of Health PRO, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa release on Monday, Dr. Yusuf talk say the extra money don already dey show result as government don begin build and renovate hospitals, buy modern medical tools and employ more health workers.

“This one na big achievement because e show say we serious to make sure say every person for Kano fit get quality healthcare,” he talk.

The Abuja Declaration wey African heads of state sign for 2001 talk say every country suppose dedicate 15% of dem national budget to health. With wetin Kano don do, the state don join small number of governments for Africa wey don meet or even pass the target.

Dr. Yusuf talk say the extra funding dey help the government push the Kano State Health Strategic Development Plan wey focus on accountability, sustainability and efficiency for health service.

He still add say government dey work with partners and community groups to make sure say the money wey dem spend go bring better health result for residents.

Governor Yusuf don also approve the renovation of general hospitals, supply new equipment and employ more doctors and nurses to cover manpower shortage.

The Ministry of Health promise say dem go continue to work with stakeholders to strengthen the health system and improve people well-being for the state.
