
Senate President Godswill Akpabio don task the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) to make sure say all their activities reflect federal character, especially for staff recruitment, promotion and welfare.
Akpabio talk this one when the Chairman and members of the Sixth NASC pay am their first official visit for him office. The Senate President congratulate dem for their appointment and express confidence say dem go deliver well based on their experience and maturity.
According to Akpabio, the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly make the right choice by appointing the present members of the Commission.
“The leadership of both chambers choose well. With una pedigree, I no get doubt say una go deliver on the mandate wey dem give una,” Akpabio talk.
He add say the Commission suppose use their experience to make sure say everything dem dey do — from staff welfare to promotion and recruitment — dey reflect national balance and fairness.
“The maturity dey there, so we dey expect the best. All una experience for different vocations suppose show for the way una handle Commission matters, make e bring joy and truly reflect federal character,” he add.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Saviour Enyiekere, thank the Senate President and the entire National Assembly leadership for the confidence dem show by appointing dem.
Enyiekere admit say the work ahead no go easy, but assure say the Commission ready to face the challenges squarely and deliver on its responsibilities.
He say the Commission go not only build on the achievements of past leadership but also work hard to restore public confidence in its ability to carry out its core mandate effectively.
As part of new ideas, the Commission also propose the creation of a Council of former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly, as well as the reintroduction and construction of new National Assembly Legislative Quarters.
According to the Commission, these steps go help strengthen institutional memory, improve welfare, and support the smooth running of legislative activities.
