Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde don raise alarm over “Operation Wetie” violence, warn say Nigeria fit face serious crisis if one-party system dominate politics, as top opposition leaders gather for Ibadan Summit ahead of 2027 election.

Makinde yarn dis on Thursday for Ibadan during national summit of opposition political parties, wey big names like Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi and Rauf Aregbesola attend.

Governor Makinde remind Nigerians about Operation Wetie, wey happen for South-West during 1965 election crisis, say na warning sign against political tension and lack of balance.

He talk say, “People wey dey behave like say tomorrow no dey should remember say Operation Wetie start from here. Dis na same Wild Wild West.”

Makinde still warn say democracy no dey die once, but e dey weaken small small, especially when opposition parties no strong or dey face internal wahala and court cases.

According to am, if opposition no function well, democracy go lose meaning because citizens no go get real choice again.

Meanwhile, political economist Pat Utomi also talk for the summit, describe Nigeria economic condition as serious, using personal example say he spend about ₦250,000 just to buy fuel, while many Nigerians dey survive on less than ₦100,000 monthly.

Utomi say the situation show say something fundamentally wrong with the system, as rising food prices and insecurity dey worsen living condition for ordinary citizens.

He add say problem no be only economic but also moral, stressing say leadership without character no fit build better nation.

The summit come as opposition parties dey discuss plan to present single candidate for 2027 presidential election, as effort to challenge ruling party and strengthen democratic process for Nigeria.
