Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, talk say the proposal don already reach the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Formula 1 Management through Opus Racing Promotions, wey be Nigeria official representative for the negotiation.

He add say the Abuja Grand Prix project go change the way the world dey see Nigeria for motorsport and sports tourism level.

The bid don already get support from top government people and big private sector partners. Report still talk say invitation don reach F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, racing legend Lewis Hamilton, and Tilke Engineers & Architects — the people wey design most modern F1 circuits — to come Abuja for site inspection and stakeholder meeting.

This move dey follow after Nigeria successfully host the first-ever E1 Lagos GP for March — the first time the all-electric powerboat race hold for Africa. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, bin describe the event as proof say the state dey serious about innovation and clean energy.

Nigeria self dey contest with India to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, as President Bola Tinubu don beg the Commonwealth to give Nigeria the hosting rights to mark the centenary edition — and make Nigeria the first African country to host the Games.
