Di Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, talk dis one for Abuja during one Joint Thematic Meeting of the Khartoum, Rabat and Niamey Processes, wey Nigeria and France host together.

For statement wey NIS Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, release on Wednesday, e talk say di new document go replace the old Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) wey dem dey use before.

Madam Nandap yarn say di new STEP passport go serve as temporary, single-entry paper wey go allow Nigerians for abroad wey don lose dia passport or wey e don expire to fit come back house safe and easy.

She talk say di new arrangement go dey available for Nigerian embassies and consulates and e be part of di immigration reform wey wan modernise migration system and improve service to Nigerians everywhere.

“Dis new passport dey part of our plan to make border management strong and protect Nigerian identity better,” Madam Nandap talk.

She also explain say di new idea dey linked with di fight against illegal migration, smuggling of people and trafficking, as NIS don dey work with other countries to stop di problem from root.

Di meeting gather plenty migration experts and stakeholders like NAPTIP, NCFRMI, ECOWAS, AU, EU, and other African and European countries to discuss how dem go join hand together to stop smuggling and protect migrants.

Nandap come still assure say NIS go continue to follow international standard to make sure say migration from Nigeria go dey safe, orderly, and legal.
