NNPC Limited don record major breakthrough for Nigeria energy sector and, as e be, dem successfully complete River Niger crossing for OB3 gas pipeline, wey go boost gas supply and economic growth. Meanwhile, the development mark key milestone for expansion of the country’s gas transmission network.

The project, handled by NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), cover 130-kilometre Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline and include complex crossing beneath River Niger. However, engineers execute the work about two kilometres underground using advanced drilling technology.

As a result, the successful crossing don unlock full capacity of the pipeline, wey fit transport up to 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day, thereby improving energy availability and supply reliability across Nigeria.

Furthermore, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, describe the achievement as major milestone for Nigeria gas infrastructure.

“This success show wetin discipline and commitment fit achieve. The pipeline go strengthen power generation, boost industries and improve gas utilisation,” he talk.

In addition, Ojulari explain say the project build on previous success from AKK pipeline crossing in 2025, showing say NNPC don improve its engineering and execution capacity.

Moreover, he appreciate support from the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting say government policies help create enabling environment for the project.

On the other hand, the OB3 pipeline na key infrastructure wey connect Eastern and Western gas networks and extend supply to Northern corridor through AKK pipeline.

Consequently, experts believe say the development go unlock over 500 million standard cubic feet of additional gas supply, supporting electricity generation, industrial growth and even export to West African markets.

As Nigeria target to increase oil and gas production by 2030, stakeholders say projects like OB3 go play major role in achieving energy security and economic development.
