African Petroleum Regulators Forum (AFRIPERF) don officially pick Nigeria as their headquarters, and Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive of NUPRC, don emerge as chairman of the Forum.

The announcement come during the Forum’s first executive committee meeting wey dem hold online yesterday. Eyoanwan Ndiyo-Aiyetan also get position as secretary.

Komolafe, wey bin interim chairman before, talk say dem wan create one harmonised and collaborative regulatory system across Africa. “Strong Executive Committee go help drive projects wey go attract investment, simplify regulations and boost Africa position for global energy sector,” he talk.

The meeting wey 16 African countries attend, dey choose leadership, headquarters and Forum logo. Till now, eight countries don ratify the AFRIPERF treaty, so dem get full membership and voting rights.

For acceptance speech, Komolafe thank him African colleagues for trust and promise say no member country go dey left behind under him leadership.

AFRIPERF Objectives

AFRIPERF dey aim to strengthen petroleum governance across Africa. Dem wan harmonise rules, boost regulatory skills through training, engage industry stakeholders and international organisations, and handle regional challenges.

The Forum also dey promote knowledge sharing, support cross-border energy infrastructure, present Africa united voice for global oil sector, encourage technology transfer, and promote best practices. Dem dey advocate transparency, ethical standards, sustainable energy development, and more investment for African petroleum exploration.
