Festus Osifo, don call on Federal Government make e no sell NNPC refineries finish give private sector, but instead make dem sell only 51 per cent stake.
Osifo talk this one during interview for Sunday Politics, programme wey dey air for Channels Television.
According to am, sell refinery 100 per cent go fit affect Nigeria energy security. Na why union dey push make government still keep control interest for the refineries.
“Why we no want make government sell refinery complete to private sector na because of energy security matter. Wetin we dey advocate be say make government sell 51 per cent stake for NNPC refineries,” Osifo talk.
E add say na the same direction current NNPC management dey work towards, as dem dey look for serious investors wey go help revive the refineries.
Osifo say investors go ready buy stake because Nigeria population big well-well, and fuel demand still dey high.
“If dem maintain the refineries well, free from political pressure and interference, dem go work,” e talk.
E stress say partial privatisation go bring efficiency, while government still keep eye on the sector to protect national interest.
Osifo statement don add to ongoing national debate on how best to reform Nigeria oil and gas sector and make local refineries work again.
