PDP Convention: Wike Bloc Install New NWC for Abuja

Delegates from different states like Kebbi, Ekiti, Bauchi and others don gather for Abuja on Sunday as faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wey support Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, hold their 2026 national convention.

For the event wey happen for Velodrome inside Moshood Abiola National Stadium, party leaders unveil 19 new members of National Working Committee (NWC) to run party affairs for next four years.

According to PDP constitution, NWC suppose get 19 members wey include chairman, secretaries, treasurer, publicity secretary, legal adviser, youth leader, woman leader and others wey go manage party structure.

New Leaders We Dem Choose

Over 2,500 delegates approve the new leadership through consensus arrangement. Among those wey emerge:

  • National Chairman – Abdulrahman Mohammed
  • National Secretary – Samuel Anyanwu
  • Deputy National Chairmen (North & South) – Yusufu Akirikwen and Aaron Chukwuemeka
  • Other key positions like treasurer, organising secretary, publicity secretary and legal adviser also filled

Professor Ogunshe Adedayo become National Women Leader, while Hauwa Shinge take deputy role.

Mixed Turnout As Crisis Continue

Even though many delegates show face, the convention still expose serious division inside PDP.

States like Benue, Kebbi and Oyo attend fully, but Edo and some others boycott the exercise, calling am illegal because court case still dey for ground.

Edo PDP chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, warn say the convention no follow law and urge Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) make dem no recognise fake delegates.

For Gombe, party chairman Mamman Kwaskebe talk say dem no go join until internal issues resolve.

Sokoto Crisis Deepen

For Sokoto State, matter even worse as one faction ignore boycott order and still attend the convention. Group leader Abubakar Danmafara insist say Sokoto PDP no fit miss important gathering like that.

Leaders Call for Unity

Top party leaders like former Abia governor Okezie Ikpeazu, ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Sule Lamido use the opportunity beg members make dem unite and rebuild trust ahead of future elections.

Court Matter Still Dey Ground

Meanwhile, PDP governors’ bloc don carry matter go Supreme Court to stop the convention, as crisis over party leadership still drag.

The party split into two factions after long internal fight, with one group earlier hold separate convention for Ibadan, while Wike bloc later set caretaker committee before this latest gathering.

Even though both sides don talk say dem wan reconcile, disagreement among leaders still show say peace never fully return.
