Police retirees under Association of Retired Police Officers (ARPO), Imo Chapter, don storm Police Headquarters for Owerri on Tuesday to protest make government remove dem completely from Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

Di protesters wey carry different placards, talk say di pension plan don make many of dem suffer and even die.

Di Chairman of di association, Retired SP Amanze Nwakwue, describe di scheme as “deadly and wicked,” and demand make Federal Government create a Police Pension Board like di one wey military dey use.

Nwakwue still beg make dem pay police retirees debarment allowance like soldiers, and question why senior officers like AIGs, DIGs, and IGPs don comot from CPS but lower ranks still dey inside.

“If CPS good, why police generals comot leave us inside? We want total exit and make dem scrap NPF Pensions Limited because e no suppose operate as business,” he talk.

Di retirees also want make government pay di ₦758.9 billion pension bond straight to dem account, not through Pension Fund Administrators. Dem call on President Bola Tinubu to sign executive order make police people comot from di scheme totally.

Responding, Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma, beg dem make dem calm down, talk say IGP Olukayode Egbetokun and di top management don already dey work on di matter.

“Una be our fathers and teachers. IGP dey serious to improve una welfare,” he talk.
