Senator Simon Lalong, wey be chairman of di Senate Committee on INEC, lead di debate. He talk say di 2023 general election show plenty lessons — both good and bad — wey show say Nigeria still need stronger electoral law.
He talk say, “Di goal na to make our election process transparent, fair, and efficient so that Nigerians go fit trust di system again.”
Lalong also explain say di new bill go help INEC work without too much political pressure or government wahala.
But as dem dey debate, Senator Emmanuel Udende from Benue North East raise concern say copies of di bill never reach members hand for them to study am well.
Because of dat, Senate decide make dem step down di bill first so everybody fit go through am and add dia own contribution before next debate.
