The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, don yan again say Sharia law na only for Muslims and no fit apply to Christians or anybody wey no dey follow Islam.

He talk this one on Wednesday for 2025 triennial meeting of Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) wey hold for Abuja. The event theme na “Collaboration of Inter-Religious Council with Government to Promote Peace in Nigeria.”

Sultan talk say Nigeria na multi-religious country and government dey support both major religions, but no religion dey become state religion. He also ask leaders make dem avoid any action wey fit cause religious wahala.

Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of House of Representatives, yarn say NIREC need strong partnership with government to fight insecurity and extremism, warn say extremists dey exploit religious differences to break unity.

SGF, Senator George Akume, tok say insecurity and public trust dey fall, plus Nigeria dey misrepresented for outside world sometimes. He urge religious and traditional leaders to join hands to promote peace.

CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, call insecurity big wahala wey fit spoil coexistence and ask for better collaboration between government and faith-based organisations.

Meanwhile, NIREC Executive Secretary, Rev. Fr. Cornelius Omonokhua, stress need to tackle terrorism and banditry, push for unity, behaviour change, and strong commitment to shared Nigerian values.
