President Bola Tinubu don tell Siemens Energy make dem expand the €2.3bn Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) from two to three stages so dat Nigeria go get better light supply and strong national transmission system.
Tinubu give the order on Monday for State House, Abuja, when him meet with big people from Siemens Energy wey be the technical partner for the project.
According to government, the PPI don already bring in over $2.2 billion new investment for the power sector and help activate 15 state electricity markets across the country.
Tinubu talk say light na key to economic growth and social development.
“Our school, hospital, transport — everything depend on power. Without am, development no go happen. We go continue to provide money and support to make this project succeed,” he talk.
He say the project go help turn Nigeria to industrial power house for Africa and open way for more jobs and development.
Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu talk say since dem sign the Accelerated Agreement for COP28 for Dubai, Siemens don deliver 10 mobile substations and 10 big transformers wey don add 984MW to national grid.
Adelabu add say the first batch of the project wey go upgrade substations for Abeokuta, Offa, Ayede-Ibadan, Sokoto and Onitsha don already start.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Finance Minister Wale Edun and Energy Adviser Olu Verheijen also follow attend the meeting.
Tinubu conclude say him government go continue to focus on steady light because na that one go move Nigeria economy forward.
