United States Embassy Abuja don issue security alert warn United States citizens about possible terrorist threat against American facilities and U.S.-affiliated schools for Nigeria.
For the alert wey come out on March 9, 2026, the embassy advise U.S. citizens to take extra precautions anytime dem dey travel go American facilities including the embassy for Abuja and the United States Consulate General Lagos.
According to the embassy, citizens should vary their movement times and routes to reduce security risks and avoid predictable travel patterns.
The security notice also encourage Americans to stay alert about their surroundings, keep low profile and regularly review their personal safety plans.
The embassy also advise citizens to keep their mobile phones fully charged in case of emergency and remain careful whenever they enter crowded public places.
Other precautions include avoiding large gatherings or protests and taking time to identify emergency exits whenever they enter buildings.
Despite the warning, the embassy confirm say the consular sections of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos remain open for normal services.
