Troops under Operation Hadin Kai don successfully repel attack from suspected terrorists belonging to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on military base for Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The troops wey belong to Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force North-East engage the insurgents early Tuesday morning when the terrorists attempt to invade the military base.
Security and local sources say the attackers arrive around 2:12 a.m., leading to heavy gun battle between soldiers and the insurgents for almost one hour.
The attack come barely 24 hours after the terrorists carry out multiple assaults on military formations in Marte, Jakana, Mainok and Kunduga areas of the state.
According to sources, the troops stand their ground and maintain tactical control during the battle, killing several terrorists and recovering weapons and ammunition from the attackers.
A security source say no soldier die during the operation, though one soldier sustain serious injury while two civilians suffer different degrees of injuries.
Another source explain say two civilians also get wounds after shrapnel from Rocket Propelled Grenade land inside a family house during the attack.
The injured persons currently dey receive medical treatment while the troops continue to maintain strong security presence in the area.
Security officials say soldiers now dey on high alert in case the terrorists attempt another attack.
Authorities also encourage residents of the community to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to help defeat insurgents operating in the region.
