The BoT meeting, wey Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President and chairman of the board, lead, get attendance of several influential PDP leaders across the country.

Among those present na Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; former minister and PDP leader Tanimu Turaki; and the party acting national chairman Umar Damagum.

Other key members wey attend the meeting include former PDP Deputy National Chairman Bode George, former Minister of Information Jerry Gana, and former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu.

While delivering him opening remarks, BoT chairman Wabara say the recent judgment from the Court of Appeal Nigeriagive the party opportunity to reorganise and rebuild its leadership structure.

Earlier the same day, the caretaker committee of the party led by Abdulrahman Mohamed also brief journalists, saying the Appeal Court ruling confirm their committee as the legitimate leadership of the PDP.

According to Mohamed, the committee go continue preparations for the PDP national convention scheduled to take place later this month.

The leadership crisis follow the judgment of the Appeal Court in Abuja wey affirm earlier ruling from the Federal High Court stopping the party from conducting the national convention wey hold on November 15 and 16, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam rule say the PDP violate constitutional procedures guiding the conduct of its national convention.

The court also note say the party fail to properly notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about the convention as required by law.

According to the ruling, the party also fail to conduct congresses in more than 14 states before organising the convention, which violate provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The appellate court maintain say the Federal High Court was right to stop INEC from recognising the outcome of the controversial PDP convention.

The judges stress say compliance with constitutional provisions and electoral laws is important for the protection of democracy in Nigeria.
