The president also ask the Senate to confirm former Rivers South-East senator, Magnus Abe, as chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The requests appear in separate letters wey Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read during plenary on Tuesday.

For the letter, President Tinubu urge the Senate to consider and approve the nomination of Oyedele as part of adjustments inside the Federal Executive Council.

Before the nomination, Oyedele serve as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms where he lead several reforms aimed at improving Nigeria tax system.

The 50-year-old economist and accountant also spend about 22 years working with PwC after joining the global firm in 2001 and later rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

Tinubu also request Senate approval for Magnus Abe as chairman of NUPRC following the resignation of Gbenga Komolafe.

Other nominees sent to the Senate include Paul Yaro Jezhi, former chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria in Kaduna State, and Sunday Adebayo Babalola, a former deputy director at the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources.

Both nominees were selected to serve as non-executive commissioners in the commission.

After reading the president’s letters, Akpabio refer the nominations to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream for further legislative consideration.
