
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, go on Wednesday swear in Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole as new Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The ceremony go hold by 2pm for Courtroom Two of the Supreme Court complex for Abuja.

Before his elevation, Justice Oyewole serve as Justice of the Court of Appeal and Presiding Justice of the Enugu Division. His appointment na part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and boost capacity of the apex court.
National Judicial Council (NJC) recommend Oyewole alongside 35 others for different judicial offices after its 110th meeting wey hold January 13, 2026, under the leadership of Justice Kekere-Ekun.
According to statement from the court, the appointment show commitment of Nigerian judiciary to uphold rule of law, ensure justice and reinforce the bench with experienced jurists.
The court describe the swearing-in as important step toward rejuvenating the judiciary and ensuring fair, timely and impartial judgments.
Guests wey go attend the ceremony don receive instruction to strictly follow court protocols and security measures.
The Supreme Court also reiterate its commitment to justice, fairness and judicial independence for benefit of all Nigerians.
