For the second time in less than two weeks, Federal High Court for Abuja don order say Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no fit hold dia 2025 National Convention wey dem bin plan to do for Ibadan, Oyo State between November 15 and 16.
Justice Peter Odo Lifu give di order on Tuesday after former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, carry PDP go court say di party no follow wetin di law talk before dem fix di convention.
Di judge also tell Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) make dem no supervise, monitor or recognize any result wey come out from di PDP convention.
According to di judge, evidence wey Lamido bring show say PDP no publish di timetable for di convention as di law require. E talk say because of that, plenty party members go miss out from di whole process.
Justice Lifu come talk say di “balance of convenience” dey Lamido side because e go suffer pass if dem no allow am take part. E add say na only when everybody dey obey law and due process wey democracy go stand gidigba.
“The court no fit close eye when people no dey follow wetin di law talk. If we no do our work well, na anarchy go full ground,” Justice Lifu talk.
Di judge come order PDP make dem suspend di convention until court finish di main case wey Lamido carry come. E still warn INEC make dem no monitor or recognize any convention wey dem do against di law.
E go be remembered say on October 31, another judge for di same Federal High Court, Justice James Omotosho, don already give similar order stop PDP from holding di same convention.
Omotosho talk say PDP no send INEC di mandatory 21 days notice before dem plan di meeting, and say that one mean dem no follow due process at all.
Both rulings don now mean say PDP no fit continue with di 2025 convention until dem correct all di wahala wey court point out.
