Serving Senator for Rivers West Senatorial District, Ipalibo Banigo-Harry, don react after APC disqualify her from di party senatorial primary election ahead of di 2027 polls.

Banigo-Harry, wey be former deputy governor of Rivers State under ex-governor Nyesom Wike, insist say she deserve clearance as serving senator and experienced lawmaker.

She speak on Monday while addressing supporters and women groups for her ward in Obuama, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to her, APC no suppose push experienced women aside at a time when Nigeria dey seek more female representation for politics and governance.

“National politics na where person suppose bring im best so dat e fit also bring development back to di state,” she tok.

Di senator beg her supporters make dem stay calm, adding say she believe APC national leadership go review di matter and do di right thing.

Banigo-Harry also appeal directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, saying di President don always support gender inclusion and opportunities for qualified women.

“I no want make anybody vex. I believe say our President dey gender-sensitive and e always support women wey qualify,” she tok.

She remind di party say she currently dey serve as senator and should be allowed to contest for second term.

“I be sitting and serving senator. I believe say I deserve dis Rivers West ticket,” she add.

Banigo-Harry further urge APC leadership to handle di issue with fairness, justice and equity, noting say only four women currently dey inside di Nigerian Senate.

“Dis na period wey we suppose dey increase di number of women for Senate, not reduce am,” she tok.

She also stress say experienced female lawmakers need opportunity to continue building on dia legislative work and national experience.
