Former National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, don assure Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, say im go get APC ticket and win second term for 2027 governorship election, following im return to di ruling party from New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Ganduje talk dis one on Monday for welcome ceremony wey happen for Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, as APC officially receive Yusuf back. According to am, di governor return na “historic homecoming” and big boost for APC strength for Kano State.

“You go win your second term for 2027. We don already talk to all aspirants and dem agree say dem go support you,” Ganduje tok. “For APC, any sitting governor na leader of di party for im state. So, you be di APC leader for Kano.”

Ganduje remind say Yusuf na founding member of APC before political issues push am go NNPP, but say im return show say home still better pass anywhere.

“You be progressive politician. From wetin you dey talk, your policies and how you dey implement dem, e match APC ideology,” Ganduje add.

Im also assure say Yusuf go get equal treatment for APC and express confidence say di party go sweep future elections, including President Bola Tinubu re-election for 2027.

Governor Yusuf officially rejoin APC on Monday after im resign from NNPP on January 23. For im resignation letter to NNPP ward chairman for Diso-Chiranchi Ward, Gwale LGA, Yusuf say internal crisis, court wahala and concern for Kano development push am take di decision.

“Leadership no suppose follow comfort or personal interest. After consultation and deep thinking, I leave NNPP and join party wey better for Kano,” Yusuf tok.

Im say di move na to align Kano with Federal Government, promote unity and end years of political isolation.

“Our loyalty na Kano first,” Yusuf add, as e beg former allies, including Rabiu Kwankwaso, make dem no see di defection as personal attack but move for state progress.

As Yusuf return APC, 22 state lawmakers, eight House of Representatives members and all 44 local government chairmen for Kano follow am, showing say serious political realignment don happen for di state.

Kwankwaso Son Resign

Di defection also cause Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, Kano Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and son of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, to resign from Kano State Executive Council.

For statement on Monday, Mustapha say e resign “with heavy heart,” but thank Governor Yusuf for di chance to serve Kano people. Im urge government make e continue youth and sports development programmes.

Barau Welcome Yusuf

Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, also welcome Yusuf to APC, promise to work with am for Kano development.

“I welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to our great party, APC,” Barau tok, as e also reassure President Bola Tinubu of im full support for di Renewed Hope Agenda.

NNPP React

Meanwhile, NNPP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Nweze Onu, condemn Yusuf defection, describe am as betrayal of voters.

For interview, Onu say even if APC control all 36 governors, e no mean say Tinubu go win 2027 election, insisting say Nigerians go decide.

Im also defend NNPP, say di party still united and grassroots-based, dismissing claims of internal crisis as false and misleading.
