Wahala don increase between former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and current Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, following Yusuf plan to dump New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and move to All Progressives Congress (APC).

The relationship between the two political heavyweights don dey shake for some time now, as reports say Kwankwaso feel say dem sideline am and no consult am well on major political decisions. On the other hand, Governor Yusuf dey push to show say e get political independence, as e don secure support from most NNPP lawmakers and many local government chairmen.
Yusuf believe say to defect na im political right, say e consult voters and party stakeholders before taking the decision. As part of preparation, the governor don already collect APC membership card from im ward, ahead of the official defection wey dem plan for January 12.
As matter dey hot, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Kwankwaso, don warn members wey don defect or dey plan to defect. E demand make dem compensate the Movement for the support, effort and labour wey dem invest in dem.
Addressing loyal supporters, Kwankwaso talk say political defection no dey happen without incentives. According to am, “For person to leave im house go another place, e no fit just happen without reason. These people, no doubt, don collect ‘goods’.”
The former governor also caution supporters make dem no allow short-term benefits deceive dem, say many politicians wey defect later regret their actions. E add say betrayal dey carry long-lasting consequences.
“The word ‘betrayer’ dey follow person — im, im family and even im lineage,” Kwankwaso talk.
Meanwhile, Kano State House of Assembly on Friday officially endorse Governor Yusuf planned defection from NNPP. Lawmakers cite unresolved leadership crisis and plenty court cases within the party as major reasons for their decision.
House Majority Leader, Lawan Hussaini, say staying inside NNPP pose serious risk to the governor and other elected officials because of factional fights and multiple litigations.
Hussaini warn say the crisis fit lead to situation like wetin happen for Zamfara State, where Supreme Court rule say APC no get valid candidates, leading to loss of governorship and legislative seats.
According to am, NNPP dey currently battle leadership disputes and many court cases, creating uncertainty over the party structure and validity of nominations ahead of future elections.
