Rivers State House of Assembly don come out clear say the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and im deputy, Ngozi Odu, still dey on course and dem never suspend am.

On Thursday, lawmakers for the state assembly formally start impeachment proceedings after Major Jack, wey be leader of the House, read out allegation of gross misconduct against the governor. The charges carry signature of 26 members of the assembly.
By Friday, some reports begin circulate say the Rivers Assembly don suspend the impeachment move against Governor Fubara. But reacting to the matter, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, Enemi George, say the report no correct.
For statement wey e release, George explain say the House don already send notice of gross misconduct to both Governor Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and dem dey wait for their official response.
According to am, the impeachment process never stop and never discontinue, as some people dey try spread false information to confuse the public.
“We dey aware say some people and media platforms dey spread wrong story say the process don halt or stop,” the statement talk.
“Dem dey push fake narratives to cause problem between the House and well-meaning Nigerians.”
George, with permission from the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule DSSRS, urge members of the public make dem ignore wetin e describe as cheap antics.
He add say the House no go allow blackmail or threat distract dem from doing their constitutional duty, stressing say dem remain committed to democracy and rule of law.
As e stand now, Rivers Assembly say the ball dey court of Governor Fubara and im deputy to respond to the allegations as the impeachment process dey continue.
