According to Yar’Adua, members of the joint committee listen well to the presentation and agree say the proposal make sense.

“After listening to the Chief of Army Staff presentation, all members show satisfaction,” he talk.

However, he point out say delay in release of funds still be major challenge, no be only for Army but across many ministries, departments and agencies.

He assure the Army leadership say the National Assembly go work closely with dem to make sure say the budget succeed.

“The Army dey very important to the security of this country, and we go support una with everything wey una need,” Yar’Adua add.


Reps Praise Army Commitment

On him own side, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Army, Aminu Balele, praise the Chief of Army Staff and officers of the Nigerian Army for their patriotism and strong commitment in fighting insurgency and protecting Nigeria territorial integrity.

Balele assure say the committee go continue to push for quick release of funds so that the Army fit carry out their constitutional duties well.

He also promise say the House committee no go relax on oversight, to ensure proper implementation of the 2026 budget.

“As we don conclude the 2026 budget defence, we understand the challenges wey dey budget implementation. We go keep pushing make funds release on time so the Army fit do their work well,” he talk.

The approval of the N1.5 trillion budget dey come as Nigeria continue to battle insecurity across different parts of the country, with lawmakers stressing say strong funding of the Army dey key to national security.
