Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), don shock court again as e tell di judge say e no wan do defence for him terrorism trial. Di move na di first major decision wey Kanu don take since e sack him lawyers last week Thursday come decide say e go represent himself for court.

Kanu tell Justice James Omotosho say e don check di prosecution case well and e no see any need to defend himself because, according to am, “di charges no get head or tail.” Di IPOB leader talk say di case sef no suppose reach court as e believe say e dey face unlawful trial.

Justice Omotosho come caution am about di serious wahala wey fit follow di kain decision, advise am make e reason am again with legal experts.

Dis new move come after one week of serious drama for di case. From protest by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore wey demand for Kanu release, to di IPOB leader submitting list of 23 witnesses wey e say e wan call before e suddenly sack him lawyers and take over di case himself.

Before now, di prosecution don close their case since June after dem call five witnesses. Dem accuse Kanu of using social media talk wey ginger violence, killings, and destruction for South-East region. But when e reach him turn to talk, Kanu say di matter no reach defence level.

Di judge still direct am to file written address to back up him claim say di prosecution no get case, and say make e serve copy to di other side. Di case don shift go November 4, 5, and 6 for adoption of final written address.

Background:
Kanu first face arrest for 2015 because of him secession talk and broadcast about independent Biafra nation. Dem release am for bail 2017 but e run after soldiers invade him house for Abia State. Di trial stop till June 2021 when dem catch am again.

Since then, di case don waka go Court of Appeal wey free am 2022, but Supreme Court reverse am for December 2023 and order say make di trial continue.

Now, di IPOB leader dey face terrorism charge again as court prepare to hear final submissions next month.
