Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State don declare say delivering the state for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for 2027 general election no go be difficult task.
Kefas talk on Wednesday after him first official meeting with Tinubu for Aso Rock Villa since him dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) join APC on January 31, 2026.
“Taraba Na For Tinubu”
The governor express confidence say him grassroots support still strong, adding say him don do proper strategic planning to guarantee landslide victory for the President.
“You know my background for military strategic intelligence. We no dey act without planning. We don do our mapping and planning. I dey ground and the people dey with me,” Kefas talk.
He add say he already secure mandate from local level and delivering both himself and Tinubu for 2027 no go hard.
“Taraba na for am. He go get nothing less than 100 per cent,” he boast.
Dismiss PDP Loyalists’ Complaints
Kefas respond to reports say some former PDP loyalists dey complain for social media over him decision to defect with some political figures wey dem consider controversial.
The governor wave off the criticism, insisting say him relationship with Taraba people remain solid.
He defect alongside members of the State House of Assembly, State Executive Council, all 16 local government chairmen and many political appointees.
Security, Welfare Top Discussion
Kefas disclose say him meeting with Tinubu focus on security matters, welfare of Taraba people and national development.
“This no be my first time meeting Mr President, but since I join ruling party, I never see am. So I come discuss strategic issues concerning security and welfare of my people,” he explain.
According to am, the meeting meaningful and help strengthen relationship between state and Federal Government.
He also reveal say Tinubu show strong interest in Taraba agricultural potential, especially plans to establish processing plants inside the state to boost value addition.
Security Situation Improving
On security, the governor paint positive picture, saying peace don return compared to before him enter office.
“Before I come, e hard to stay outside by 4pm. But now people fit move freely without security, except few areas where small issues still dey,” he say.
How Defection Happen
Kefas, wey win 2023 election under PDP, first plan to defect in November 2025 but postpone am after schoolgirls kidnapping incident for Kebbi State, calling it insensitive to celebrate during national tragedy.
The defection finally hold on January 31, 2026, for Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo, where Vice President Kashim Shettima officially receive am into APC.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwada describe the move as major boost for the party and development of Taraba.
Kefas become the fifth PDP governor to join APC in 2025, following Sheriff Oborevwori, Umo Eno, Peter Mbah and Douye Diri.
