United Kingdom don announce say Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) go become mandatory for travelers from 85 countries wey no need visa from 25 February 2026. Anybody wey no get ETA no go fit board flight or ferry go UK.
ETA system start for October 2023 and more than 13.3 million people don apply since then. Di system dey gradually roll out before to allow travelers adjust, but from February 2026 e go mandatory.
Minister for Migration and Citizenship, Mike Tapp, talk say ETA go help UK screen travelers before dem waka come, and e go make travel experience easier.
Applicants go need submit personal info, passport details, travel plans, and pay £16 through the official UK ETA app. Most applications dey approved within minutes, but make people apply at least three working days before travel for any manual checks.
ETA go allow travel but no mean say border checks no go still happen. UK Border Force go still confirm say traveler meet all requirements before entry.
- Exemptions include British and Irish citizens and dual nationals with valid British documents. People wey no carry proper documents fit be denied boarding from February 2026.
