The United States Embassy for Abuja don drop security alert give all Americans wey dey Nigeria ahead of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest wey go happen for Monday, October 20.
The protest, wey activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, announce for him X (Twitter) handle, go start around Eagle Square and the Central Business District for Abuja by 7 a.m.
Sowore call am “historic” and talk say e go be peaceful march to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) wey still dey for detention since June 2021 after dem carry am come back from Kenya.
For statement wey dem post for dia website, the US Embassy warn say the protest fit cause traffic wahala, roadblock, and even small clash between police and protesters.
“The US Embassy in Abuja inform US citizens say the Free Nnamdi Kanu Now protest go hold Monday, October 20, 2025. E fit cause roadblock, traffic and possible violence near Eagle Square and CBD,” the Embassy talk.
Dem advise Americans make dem no near the protest area, make children stay house from school, and make house help wey dey come from outside Abuja no come work that day.
The Embassy still tell all US citizens make dem shine eye well, avoid crowd, and keep dem phone full charge in case wahala burst.
“Make una watch local news, no make noise, and dey careful for public places like church, cinema and shopping mall,” the message end.
