ASUU Strike: Nigerian Lecturers Don Meet FG, Say Talks Dey Move Well Well

ASUU don confirm say negotiation with Federal Government don start and small progress don show for payment and allowance matter.

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don talk say dem don start fresh meeting with Federal Government to settle the wahala wey make dem go on strike.

The union talk this one for Strike Bulletin No. 2 wey dem release through the National Strike Coordinating Committee (NSCC) and signed by Dr. Christopher Piwuna over the weekend.

This update dey come one week after ASUU begin two-week warning strike wey don scatter normal school activities for public universities across the country.

For the bulletin, ASUU talk say small progress don dey as government don begin release some money and handle some long-time issues.
The progress include:

  • Release of third-party deductions

  • Payment of promotion arrears

  • Mainstreaming of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA)

  • Resolution of University of Abuja land matter

  • End to victimisation of members for Kogi State University (KSU), Lagos State University (LASU) and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO)

Dr. Piwuna praise union members for standing strong for the struggle and beg them make dem no lose focus.

“Our members don show better commitment to this fight. Make we remain united for these last few days,” the statement talk.

The warning strike go end next week Monday, but ASUU never talk whether dem go extend am or return back to classroom.
