Lagos State Govment don give property owners and developers for Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, two weeks make dem go get proper building approval and regularise dia project with Lagos physical planning law.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, yarn dis one on Thursday for Lagos, say di ultimatum na last warning before demolition continue for buildings wey no get approval.
Olumide talk say di govment no dey act anyhow but dey follow law and international standard. “Many of di structures for Trade Fair no safe at all and dem dey block emergency road. E no dey good for public safety,” he talk.
He add say di move follow Sanwo-Olu T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda and SDG 11 wey dey promote safe and planned cities.
According to am, Lagos law don give di state power to regulate any building for di state, even for federal land wey no be military or special use area.
Olumide still dismiss talk say demolition na political or tribal matter. “Na lie. Di law no know tribe or party. We don do similar demolition for Pelewura Market, Ilasan, Alaba Rago, Otumara, and Oluwole Market. Dis one no different,” he talk.
He warn say after two weeks, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) go resume enforcement for any building wey still no get approval.
Olumide come end by talk say Gov Sanwo-Olu administration go continue to make Lagos safe, well-planned, and sustainable for everybody without fear or favour.
